Ethiopia is one of the fastest growing countries in Africa. While it has a reputation for being impoverished, which many in the country still face, there are plenty of billionaires in the area who want to combat this impression by bringing in big businesses, tourism and rebuilding some of the failed infrastructure.

Several of these billionaires have the kind of excess lifestyle one would expect. They drop millions of dollars on huge real estate ventures, they buy sports teams, they invest in future technologies and they get themselves sensible cars. Though I think what they really want is a piece of Ethiopia’s legacy. If the country is going to see a more prosperous future, these businessmen are the ones looking to drop fortunes in order to ensure they are the ones who get the credit.

Then there are the lifestyle choices Ethiopia offers. For both the rich and average consumer alike, there are some truly incredible luxury resorts that offer class and lodges right out in the middle of the lush Ethiopian national parks. There you can take safaris that cost thousands of dollars, sleep on a volcano, feed a hyena with your mouth or hunt a lion.

Of course, if you simply want the best cup of coffee in the world, the place that originated it all is still said to be the best. Some of these brands can go for thousands of dollars a bag.
